FBT coupler, also known as a fiber coupler, is an optical passive device that bundles one or more optical fibers together, melts, and stretches them on a tapering machine, and it can also show the changes in the splitting ratio in real time. When the splitting ratio reaches the design requirements, the melting and stretching ends, and one end retains one optical fiber as the input end, and the other end is used as a multi-channel output end. This splitter can couple the optical signal transmitted in the optical fiber in the coupling area of a special structure to redistribute the optical power.
Meet Telcordia GR-1209-CORE Issue 4 and Telcodia GR-1221-CORE Issue 3 standards, meet YD/T2000.1-2009 standards and RoHS specifications.
Has excellent optical performance, good stability, uniformity, and directionality.
Low additional loss and low polarization-related loss.
The splitting ratio can be monitored in real time as needed, and unequal splitters can be made.
The main packaging includes bare fiber, steel pipe, box, insert, rack, etc.
Suitable for telecommunication fiber optic networks, digital multimedia transmission systems, CATV systems, fiber optic sensors, fiber optic local area networks, etc.
Single-mode optical splitter: Optimized for single-mode optical fiber, the operating wavelength is usually in the range of 1310nm and 1550nm, and is used in long-distance, high-bandwidth optical fiber communications.
Multimode optical splitter: Optimized for multimode optical fiber, usually operating in the range of 850nm and 1310nm, used for short-distance, low-bandwidth applications such as local area networks (LANs).
FBT coupler splitter (Fused Biconic Taper Coupler): The splitting function is achieved by welding multiple optical fibers together from the side of the optical fiber. FBT splitters have low cost and customizable splitting ratios, suitable for general optical network applications.
PLC splitter (Planar Lightwave Circuit Coupler): uses planar lightwave circuit technology to achieve splitting function through optical waveguide. PLC splitter has high working wavelength flexibility and good stability, and is suitable for a wide range of wavelengths.
According to the different splitting ratios, it is divided into several types of FBT splitters such as 1:2, 1:4, 1:8, 1:16, 1:32, 1:64, etc., and 2:N optical splitter or non-uniform splitting optical splitter can also be selected.
Optical splitters can also be classified according to single mode (1310nm) and multimode (850nm).
Including X-type (2×2) coupler, Y-type (1×2) coupler, star type (N×N, N>2) coupler, tree type (1×N, N>2) coupler, etc.
These classifications reflect the diversity and flexibility of fused taper splitters in different application scenarios. Users can choose the appropriate splitter type according to specific network requirements.
OMC FBT couplers are widely used in fiber optic communication systems, CATV, FTTH, measuring instruments, and other fields, and can meet the needs of different spectral ratios, working wavelength ranges, connector types, and packaging forms. FBT coupler has become an indispensable component in fiber optic communication networks with their excellent performance, flexible splitting ratio, and wide application fields. Choosing a good FBT coupler means choosing a stable, efficient, and economical fiber optic signal distribution solution.
